Due to the deteriorating track condition, Stewards, drivers and club personnel conducted a track inspection with concerns identified around the condition of the track near the 150m, between the 400m and 200m and near the 500m. After attempting some track remedial work and conducting a further assessment of the track, at approximately 3:55pm, Races 6 – 9 were abandoned, due to the state of the track which was no longer considered suitable or safe for racing purposes.

It is interesting that the problem was only a fraction of the 1,000m track - between the 150 and 500. I just cannot get my head around them having had much rain

Is the Nutrien 3yo Fillies Final at Melton tonight, the weakest $150k race ever staged?

If it isn't then only Lux Aeterna saves it. The way she is going you would say she is no cert but try and find something to beat her

Another great pick up by Toohard
Have a look at the photo finish from the last at YV on Monday
Notice anything unusual about the saddlecloth numbers?

In this close finish it was lucky that this is one of the few tracks to have an inside and outside photo finish camera
To separate the horses they needed to go to the inside camera
and to then present the photograph in its usual direction they have flipped the photo

It is clearer if you look at the link

I wish tracks would make their tracks look better on camera. GP is one that does it well. Green grass, big signage, palms, coloured bridge.
Looking at other tracks. They're grey grey grey. Plant some flowers, increase the size of signage. We will never compete with night gallops when gallops tracks are lush and green and ours look like they're coming out of c1805 Kurdistan

Katie, I have often written that the gallops have a big advantage over us simply because they race on that green stuff that most of us find aesthetically pleasing.
It is unlikely to happen in Vic as HRV and the whole state are totally broke

It is strange Trish, I don't do social media so I don't know if there has been an explanation there. You would expect a paragraph somewhere, if he was crook you would still think one of his handful of regular contributors, that he has given contributor status too in the last couple of years, would be able to write something on his behalf

    Agree Kev.
    Hope he is ok.
He tells some stories, but I enjoy them.
