Smooth Santana is making her debut in a trot at Maryborough as an 8yo
I don't think Santana Blue Chip has produced a winning trotter

Tornado Valley's great first up win in the Bill Collins Sprint tonight made me look at his record more closely
It is phenomenal to think that last season he had 11 starts for his old owners in NZ for zero wins
He comes to Australia for the second half of the season and wins 10 races

Yonkers International Trot and more. Good job Luke!
11yo Coco Couture won her first race at Ballarat tonight - it is only her first season of racing and was only her 6th start!

Would have taken a monumental effort to keep up with Kate and Andy yesterday Kev.
Yep, they would have still been at Yarra Glen at 1pm and would have had to be at Swan Hill by 7.30 and there is a 5hr drive in between
Edit: Forgot going via Long Forest so Very little time to spare
Now Emma has a 3yo trotter who at his 2nd start showed that he can go as fast as anything in the Inter!
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=MX101218
When are the first 2yo trot races for 2019?
You would go a long way to find a better $8k trotters race than R5 at Bendigo tonight

'Trotters Only'
It is your night at Melton tonight
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=MX090319
And specialty trotting yearling sale tomorrow
What did we learn tonight at Melton:
1.You don't necessarily breed good trotters by using the trotting bloodlines : Emerald Stride by Bettors Delightt from a Rock n Roll Hanover mare.
2. Ditto: You don't necessarily breed trotters by using the trotting bloodlines; The wonderfully names Pantzup by Always A Virgin from a Life Sign mare
3 That Gavin Lang is a marvel...for his training of Pantzup and tonight's masterful winning drive.

Is Kima suspended this time as she still missed the drive on Big Jack Hammer again (BIG run Dance Craze)
You cannot tell from the Vic Suspended Drivers list - it has not been updated since November 19 (don't HRV staff have regular duties ?)
No, in Qld representing Vic at the Lady Drivers championship I think Kev
Of course. Looks like KerryAnn Turner won that

The Stand Start trot at Ballarat tonight
12 starters but over half the field ODS including the first four in the pre-post market
It hardly inspires confidence (turnover?)
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#BAC16051908
Confidence Kev? Confidence in what, that they will all trot away? Probably won’t all trot away but doesn’t that, with a full field, actually add value in the prices for those punters who get it right? Certainly gives plenty of opportunities for those punters who like to lay horses and bet in the run on Betfair. I think you might be surprised how much the race does turn over, could be more then the small field mobiles with an odds on favourite drawn well.
We should have used logic and went for No.1 and No.2 as there were only three off the front and they were the two that were not ODS
$17 the Win and $254 the Quinella
BUT it would have all be luck as only one starter stepped badly
ps It is amazing how hard the pros will go for a bit of 'free money'
There was a $2.5k carryover jackpot in the First 4 from this race into R7 and consequently the First 4 pool for R7 which would have been < $10k ended up $22k
I need someone to watch the replay and explain this race to me
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...19#HMC10061908
When I first saw the margins I thought all bar the winner must have broken
The winner and $2.30 favourite was a big run at its previous start when it galloped early and in retrospect it would seem that you were taking those odds about it holding it together in which case it was supposedly home
They went hard early but I am still a little bamboozled. It took him a lap to get to the lead so it isn't like everything fell into his hands
He rated 2.04.7 but it was only a 2160 SS and the record is 2.01.7
Record probably not set in June and by a better horse then any of these Kev. Winner had a bit on these, they stepped away and accelerated from the stand at varying rates and the leaders stole a bit of a break on the rest during this early phase of the race and the rest were strung out over a fair bit of ground, winner, early leader then ran lead time pretty quick with winner going to front and ran next 3 quarters in approx 30s each, too quick for the lesser horses to be able to make ground without crossing anerobic threshold and tiring, so most did tire, winner also tired last quarter but damage already done and others couldn’t make much if any ground.
Alternative explanation, winner had a good day, everyone else had one to forget!
It has been a while since I saw a 3 horse race - I hope these 2yo's behave or it could be embarrassing

Bold Eagle finally makes it to North America and cleans up in the Woodbine Breeders Crown

Check out the replay link to see how good replays should be (despite the appalling weather)
The positive initiative by Yarra Valley to run a couple of races on the grass on Cup day are stands and therefore trots
Tune in for Races 4 & 7 for what should be an interesting spectacle
We will have a new Tk Rec with these races over the new distance of 1950m

Unfortunately the grass races didn't happen

Tough Monarch from a NZ mare but Aussie bred was too tough for the NZers in the Trotting Free For All today
http://www.harnesslink.com/News/Toug...Z-Trotting-FFA
Terrific. NZ always dominated the trotters ranks so good to see Aussies getting some back. Then consider Austs best trotter is back home instead of with stalemate McLovin. All 3 are NZ breds though...
Impressive win by Habibi Inta in the $300k Canterbury Dominion today

and a good call
For those of you that would like to read a detailed look inside the Bold Eagle stable that night

This should be a most interesting addition to the Butt stable

I have done a little research on Gatsby Perrine
I could not find him on Classicfamilies db or blodbanken's so although racing in good company he has not actually done enough for them (you would have thought his prizemoney may have been enough)
His record can be found here
https://www.zone-turf.fr/cheval/gatsby-perrine-702620/
He must have got sick of seeing the rear end of Gotland
You will see that he has raced in a lot of Group races
As far as being a stallion prospect, not only will his performance down under be a factor but also a few more runs on the board for his sire Bird Parker would help

4 start 1 win mare Sultan Sass comes up against 120 rater Red Hot Tooth who has finished 2nd in 3x Gp1s in past 5 starts. Sultan Sass only emergency but quite the David V Goliath. Melton Rc2 on Saturday.
She will probably bolt it in, now that I have posted this, but can Majestic Mannequin really start anywhere near $1.50 in R1 at Melton today after her effort just 4 days ago
