PP came back for a day and now gone missing again for a few
Hi MNIJ runs 1.49 at menangle trials today.
Back in my dads day at least you got something, like headstalls, lead ropes, towels etc. But I am thinking he got zero.
PP back again - after being in hospital - stay healthy PP
EXTREME SEA . He may need his own thread in time. Very impressive indeed.
But you have to go back to 1955 to share the same dam line as Shartin and Locarno
Bondi Lockdown has a career record of 50 starts for 17 wins and 14 placings.
“It’ll be exciting to see what he can do in America,” Dunn said.
“Obviously over there he can be treated on (anti-bleeding medication) Lasix, and they should be able to get the best out of him. Hopefully he will go through and be successful enough there to then come back home and go to stud,” he said.
We are nothing if not dreamers in the world of harness racing

Looking at Shep's rainfall tonight, they did well to hold 7 of the 10 races
Bad day for favourite punters as with the 9 races at Charlton there was only 1 favourite successful
So 16 races for the day and only 2 favourites got up

Don Kee. In at Newcastle today , ran 2nd. 299 starts .
Born 2010. Unreal.
And for pretty much the whole time he has only been with Julie Henman and she him
Not often you see trotters race pacers. Milly An Eyre 3rd in 1.56.6 Albion Park
Thanks Katie - it brings back memories of Maoris Idol beating the best pacers at Albion Park
I see Cameron Fitzpatrick is driving at Menangle trials tomorrow.
I agree with HRNSW (not the Racing Appeals Tribunal) that the Green Light affair rendered him an unfit and improper person to hold a license - bribing stewards to let you dope horses without fear of testing in order to cheat and win would appear a definition of unfit and improper to me. It should have been life not 12 years and good on HRNSW for not automatically giving him back his license at the end of it
No Leap or Swayzee in Redcliffe Cup???
A $100k race nowadays is certainly deserving of a star or two more

$425k+ worth of prizemoney at Redcliffe on Saturday
Much is being made of Sundon's Gift's new digs but how many people visit Living Legends? How many people know where Greenvale is? I know every bit helps and we are desperate for positive news but ....
https://www.thetrots.com.au/news/art...ends-resident/
He was a great trotter. I was surprised they put him in Legends at his age, surly he would have been happy where he was. IMO people are simply not that interested in harness racing. I am sure the interest is in the past great gallopers.
We have been to Legends & loved our visit. We found it easy to get to & there were quite a few people there. I have a photo with Apache Cat....what a great horse. Its a nice place. Peaceful.
Apart from those in the industry (both codes) there are very few interested in the P-A-S-T it is all about the P-U-N-T
Yep. 100% agree.
Good article on harnesslink news about that.
The HRV Integrity Unit saying Shep abandoned due to inclement weather and the state of the track but the BOM saying they have had 2 drops of rain. The BOM must be wrong because this is the Integrity Unit talking.
The BOM's readings are right. Very little rain since 9am:
http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/flood/goulburn_broken.shtml
Roads dry at 5pm
Yes, I think we all know that it wasn't inclement weather so why do the Integrity Department treat us all like mushrooms

Do not know if this story came before or after PP reports a couple of Group 1 horses Don't Stop Dreaming & We Walk By Faith are being transferred to Hayden Cullen .

Harness Racing Australia recently [14th June] announced they had Invoiced Studs for some $920,944 for foals born in the 2023 season which were sired by Stallions that were subject to their Tax. Of course that sum of money has then been passed onto individual broodmare owners.
The immoral part of this Tax is that it is being collected, not for the betterment of the whole Industry, but to assist funding a $2 million Slots Race that only ten wealthy individuals or entities can enter by shelling out $100,000 for a Slot.
So in effect the broodmare owners of Australia have become the largest sponsors of a race in Australia [and probably anywhere in the world] and in return have not received one single mention of thanks or acknowledgement for their donation!
DEXTER DUNN had a big day at The Meadowlands, winning 6 races & 3rd in the big one.
He sure has made it big in USA.
Just watched a bike race in the olympics , where the last across the line on each bell lap were elimated.
Maybe they could bring this into harness racing, where the last placed at every 200 mtr is out.
Why not. Would be exciting racing.
I think it could be exciting on big tracks (there may be chaos on small tracks)
I might make it for 2 lap races with last at the half lap eliminated - you are only going to lose 3 horses this way But that will still create moves, speed and excitement
The drawbacks may be that fast starters/leaders would once again be at a big advantage. Would it be exhausting for the horses? Nobody is going to want to be on the fence other than behind the leader
I can remember somebody once suggesting that the sprint lane should be allowed approaching the bell - that would be good in this type of racing But I still cannot picture what happens when the sprint lane runs out and a horse has only made up half a length (it could work on a figure 8 track but we don't have the money to build them)
I won't name names Kev, but the Figure 8 track has been raised by some visionaries in previous years. Fact is, you need to change things up sometimes, and whilst such ideas seem wild at first, the world's greatest ideas always seem wild to someone at first...
On the type of race where a contestant is eliminated each time X number of distance goes by, I could be wrong, but I thought the legendary Anthony Butt may have even thrown this open for discussion some years back. If that is completely incorrect and my memory is playing tricks on me, then please disregard haha. Fact is, again, it's a novel idea and in tough times and when you need to find ways to engage new audiences (in any industry), no idea is unworthy of at least exploration.
Melton.
Race 6 number 5 says the horse is deceased.
Sad.
Where is Gavin Fitzpatrick?
Holidays?
Anyone?
Gravelhouse Standardbred auction is sad. No one wants them & some at $500 no reserve , looks like you can not give them away.
Just watched the relays of the 1ST race at Gatton on Sunday.
The horse that ran 4th has a JO in the stewards comments , which is jumped object , it looked like it was the track crossing to me.
Bloody scary IMO & it was just luck that half the field did not come down.
The Brimacombes owned the quinella in R1 at Terang today
It paid $60 but the pool was small (only 10 units on it)
Maybe they backed their winner Sonarmi Joh
and better still their 2nd placegetter Unspoken Love who paid $28 the place (Fixed Odds)

I love small tracks (my love of harness comes from the Showgrounds) but comparing Melton with Menangle tonight - there is no doubt as to which track is fairer for all runners
