Bloody terrible Danno, 61 is only middle-age in our industry and he was a legend and a gentleman
As the link says - our thoughts are with his family and friends
Danno and many others are deeply saddened by this news,

Gavin and I are about the same age and had our first race drives quite close to each other time wise, I am a massive fan of his.....he is the driver I always wanted to be and I'm certain there are many many others.

Just announced on Sky. I got a message just before six tonight. When the news first broke of his illness I new in myself he had driven for the last time (and I say that from my own recent experience). But, I never thought it would come to this. We should have expected the worst when fundraising started for a treatment trial, a sure indication that his outlook was not good.
I have a lasting memory of Gav at the Showgrounds as 16 year old boy waiting for his drive on Slick and Quick to come into the parade ring. He looked about 10 and scared but all that changed as soon as he jumped in the cart. You think of these little things as you see people's careers unfold. That kid, who looked like he still had a while to wait for his first shave, made it to the very top of his profession. And stayed there.
R.I.P. Gavin, gone way too soon.
I think this may have been Gavin's last winning drive, it was certainly typical of his style, never asked the horse to do anymore than it HAD to at any stage of the race, and reflexes like a cat turning for home.....as was his habit, winning a race he had no right to win,

Sorry, 8th race on the program Pantzup.
Gavin was visited by Teddy and Andrew (I am guessing pre isolation times)
