Bernie Winkle is in a winnable race tonight but it is 7 months since he won (and he has had 18 starts in that period)
Tonight is his 291st start - horse lovers might consider providing him with a nice retirement paddock after 300 but maybe not the Douglas/Anderson camp
He is in fair form running places at his last three and earning $1,000+ each time

    What happened at Mildura today?
    I wasn't tuned in
The track must have very different weather compared to where the BOM have their weather station
If you look at the results you will see by R.8 at 4.18 the Track was already Rain Affected while the BOM suggests <1mm had fallen

    https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...s/?mc=ML040823

By R.11 at 5.53 they Abandoned while the BOM are saying Mildura had only had 4.6mm by then

My only bet would be on a power outage brought about by high winds.

Rain/surface water - HRV Integrity tweeted that the track was determined to be unsuitable for racing due to surface water

I heard from a reliable source that a bit of human error was involved too. Strange that the BOM station had so little rain

    Stewards report says

Prior to the commencement of this event, the mobile barrier was tested due to continual rainfall and deterioration of the track surface. The testing of the HRV and Club mobile barrier was not considered suitable and after consulting with a deputation of trainers and drivers and Club personnel, Races 11 and 12 were abandoned at 6:05pm due to the state of the track and associated safety concerns.
