You would have to be braver than me to take the odds on about Catch A Wave first up in the 2710m Ballarat Cup on Saturday night
CAW has only ever had 2 starts over further than 2240m and finished 7th and 8th

You have to wonder what NR69 Kendys Butterfly is doing in the Cup
She is eligible for just about every other pacing race on the card
What odds will she start - at present she is $251 FO

Cya Art from that draw is probably going to be driven for luck and try and follow Beyond Delight but one thing for sure is that Grimson has chosen the best possible driver for this task

Kanena Provlima opened up fantastic odds (might have even been double figures) and understandably backed right in

There were some incredibly slow Q2's last night - none slower than the 32.8 in the Cup but there were two others in the 32's
A solid Northerly may have contributed but it did not seem to affect the Q4's at all
I wonder whether no sprint lane has anything to do with it in that there are less challenges for the lead - knowing that the leader is not going to surrender

Leap To Fame has drawn 10 in Saturday's Cranbourne Cup but I cannot see that proving too much of a problem
(it would be ideal if Nathan Jack was driving him )

Kyle Marshall talking about winning the Cranbourne Cup with Bach (NR83) first up in Oz against Leap To Fame - a bit like I dream of winning Powerball, I guess
His last start he came 4th to Don't Stop Dreaming but he was 8 lengths off him

District Attorney has an outstanding record but I don't fancy him over the long trip first up
It looks to be between Fides and Beyond Delight
I think Fides has the better draw and provided that he has not had any set backs since his last win (it has been 5 weeks) I think he can win again
From Jan 27 Stewards Report
HURRICANE HARLEY – Weakened over the final stages to finish in 8th position, beaten 52.1m for which a warning was issued. A post-race veterinarian examination found the horse to be uneven at a trot and displaying abnormal respiratory sounds. Acting under veterinarian advice, HURRICANE HARLEY was stood down from racing until a certificate of fitness is submitted. When questioned regarding the performance, Driver Mark Pitt explained that although making early use of his drive, HURRICANE HARLEY proved disappointing overall and failed to travel from the 800m. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Follow up Report – Thursday 1 February 2024
HURRICANE HARLEY – Trainer Emma Stewart has today reported to Stewards that HURRICANE HARLEY has pulled up well and given the tough run, the horse will now be provided a small break.
