That is not good Kev
I have not added up Menangle or AP.
But WA are doing well as is NSW .
The contrast between WA and VIC is startling
This weekend they both have regular metro meets of 10 races
The prize pool for Gloucester Park is $243,000 so an average of $24,300 a race
The prize pool for Melton is $150,000 so an average of $15,000 a race

Maybe this belongs in a 'Why are HRV' broke thread
I have had my experts looking at recent Annual Reports
We need Terang to be a leader in harness racing's revival as they have had $2m spent there in the last 3yrs and yet they only host around 10 meetings a year
Can Terang do this or was this over expenditure.
I think people become blase about 'millions'. A million dollars in contracted work is still a lot of money - think of it as 100 x $10,000
How would you like to be a lighting contractor - last year HRV spent nearly $4m on LED for just 3 tracks
To put this in perspective Most races in Vic are now only $4,000 races
We probably needed some lighting work done but think of $4m as 1,000 x $4,000.
I would estimate that that $4m would be enough money to DOUBLE every $4k race we run to $8k for a Whole Year!

Marks an electrician , he would have done it for 3 & 1/2 mil.
Doesn't matter what sort of lighting you have once the power is switched off.

Two days in a row without any trots in Vic is not something that we are used to

How far we have slipped. Saturday night at Melton - in only one race does the winner take home $10k+

It is half way into the season and a good time to look at how Vic being broke filters down and hurts participants
Look at this Driver's consistent stats
Being only half way in We need to double the 25/25 figures
But we still only get a projected $514,534 in stakes for 25/25
Even if we pretend his/her wins & stakes being a little down this season is due to him/her and not what is available, even with 10% more starts/wins/places/stakes his/her stakes would still only be tracking for a $600k season. We are looking at a 25% hit to the usual $800k+
We are most likely looking at a 25% decrease in his/her income - probably more
This was the first driver, I looked at, I do not know him/her, I have chosen to keep them anonymous but of course all drivers' stats are public by simply clicking on their name on the HRA/HRV fields
A quick look at a few others statistics show that I could post plenty of other examples who would be hurting
